Things To See in Arad
Located on the border of the Negev and Judean deserts, Arad Israel is 16 miles west of the Dead Sea, and 28 miles east of Beersheba. Founded in 1962, it was the first planned city in Israel. The ruins of Tel Arad, a major archaeological site and national park; Arad Park, also called Ran Grove; a domestic airfield; Arad Mall; and Israel's first legal race circuit are all located here. There is also an annual summer music festival, known as the Arad Festival. And the Israel National Trail passes through, between Mount Kina and Tel Arad. Arad Israel also has a conservatory and a concert hall. Outside of Arad is the Zohar Peak and Zohar Lookout, common hiking and biking destinations. Arad hosts a mountain biking tournament called Riding Arad.
Masada, Israel
Visit the mountain fortress of Masada, 13 1/2 miles northwest of Arad Israel. It is on the eastern edge of the Judean Desert, overlooking the mineral rich Dead Sea, the lowest land elevation on earth. Masada is one of Israel's most popular tourist attractions and a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site. You can walk, take a cable car to the top, or take a sunrise tour.
Negev Desert and Israel
Across the Negev Desert are farms which offer a Bedouin hospitality, including traditional Bedouin meals, camel rides, and overnight accommodations in traditional Bedouin tents. The tents can also be used for Bar/Bat Mitzvahs.
There are also organizations in Israel that offer Bar/Bat Mitzvah tours where everything is arranged for you. Israel has the largest number of museums per capita in the world and Jerusalem is 85 miles north of Arad Israel. Stand at the Kotel, the Western Wall and gaze upon the ancient stones.
